Dad is waiting for an invitation...
To the ceremonies in Moscow commemorating the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Europe (VE Day). Somehow, the participants who were there at the time are the ones who don't get the invitations. Not only was Dad there, but he was with his unit when they crossed the Elbe River and met their Russian counterparts, guessing that VE Day was some months later. VE Day is May 9 for the Russians, May 8 for the other allies owing to time zone differences.
To accompany him on that trip would be a real experience. It would be strange if he met up with some of the Russian veterans who were there at the Elbe. Knowing my father, it would happen as he is the Forrest Gump of his generation. I have the photos to prove it!
